NEDAwareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness across the country (and the world!) about the serious nature of eating disorders in an effort to direct those affected to the help they need. Reaching millions during NEDAwareness Week 2016, we saw a sharp increase in help-seeking behavior -- people reaching out for resources and treatment options. We would not be able to reach so many people with critical information and resources without the participation of such a diverse range of organizational partners hosting events, leading engaging activities and encouraging their constituents to get involved. By working together during NEDAwareness Week, we generate tremendous media attention to eating disorder issues at the local, regional and national levels.
Who are our partners and what do they do?
NEDAwareness Week partners are local, national, and regional organizations that have committed to raising eating disorder awareness. This year we have asked all partners to spread the word about the online eating disorder screening tool, nationaleatingdisorders.org/screening, throughout their organizations and to their constituents. Since every organization is different, the NEDA staff is here to help come up with ways for organizations to get involved that are specially designed for partner audiences. We have also received the support of many city landmarks that have lit up, blue and green, to raise awareness in their areas. Keep scrolling down to check out our list of amazing partners for 2017!
How to Become a Partner for 2017
NEDA works hard to promote our partners through social media, MyNEDA emails to our database, public events search, regional NEDAwareness Week press releases, and more. Each partner's constituent demographics and interests are unique, so we work with you to identify creative and engaging ways for your organization to participate. Examples from past years include, among others, Tweet Chats, webinars, a Virtual NEDA Walk, film screenings and video campaigns.
To become a partner, your organization will complete an online survey that will become available in 2017. Every partner will receive an updated NEDAwareness Week Partner Packet that will highlight ways to get involved in raising awareness without having to go far to gather the information!
